The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) organized MSE Day 2025 and an Industry–Academia Collaboration Meet (IACM) on Wednesday, July 16. The day-long event, hosted by the MSE Association, was held at the university auditorium and brought together MSE faculty members, students, and senior officials from prominent national industries.
As part of the program, MSE students presented thesis papers on seven important topics. Representatives from participating industries directly engaged with the students, raising questions and offering valuable feedback. In turn, the students responded with well-researched answers, showcasing their academic competence. Industry delegates also shared their specific workforce needs and emphasized the growing demand for skilled professionals in the field.
The Industry–Academia Collaboration Meet (IACM) served as a vital platform to strengthen ties between academia and the industrial sector. Discussions focused on producing skilled human resources aligned with the needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in Bangladesh through mutual collaboration.
The event also included a welcoming ceremony for the 2023 and 2024 student batches, a farewell for the 2019 batch, and a prize distribution ceremony for winners of the department’s annual sports competition. The day began with a colorful rally that started in front of RUET’s administrative building, marking the significance of the occasion.
The program was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Kader Zilani, Vice-Chancellor (Current Charge) of RUET, and presided over by Dr. Md. Aminul Islam, Head of the MSE Department.
